Young Animators Award
PLAN B (We were meant to go to the moon but no....), an energetic one-minute animation adventure by Shahin Ben Salah from Nord Anglia International School; Kamalesh Sriram from JSS International School; and Max Makdisi from Greenfield Community School won the Young Animators Award at DIFF on Saturday.
The award was launched this year by the festival and supported by Taaleem, one of the largest education providers in the UAE.
The award was presented ahead of the Children's Gala by Clive Pierrepont, Director of Communications at Taaleem and DIFF's Samr Al Marzouqi.
After an initial call for submissions, students between 10 and 17 years from the UAE were invited to share a video expressing their passion for animation.
18 students were shortlisted to take part in a 4 day workshop conducted by The Animation Chamber, a grassroots animation collective. During the workshop, the participants were introduced to stop-motion animation, and produced 6 videos, out of which a jury selected the final winner.
