Acclaimed masterpieces from Christopher Nolan and Joe Wright join Oscar® winners Get Out and Blade Runner 2049 along with nominees Ladybird, Loveless and The Square, until March 14 at DIFF365@VOX Cinemas

Dubai, 06 March, 2018: With the thrilling Academy Award® wins earlier this week, DIFF’s independent cinema showcase, DIFF365@VOX Cinemas powered by du, will extend its Oscar® lineup until Wednesday, 14 March, and adds Academy Award® winners ‘The Darkest Hour’ and ‘Dunkirk’ to the stellar lineup. The now seven-strong lineup boasts a stack of awards including Golden Globes, BAFTAs, Critics Choice and now Oscars, alongside critical acclaim from across the globe.

The two features join a slate of acclaimed films, including Greta Gerwig’s touching masterpiece ‘Lady Bird’, starring Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf, funny and thought-provoking Palme D’Or winner ‘The Square’, from Ruben Östlund and starring Claes Bang, and Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev’s stark drama ‘Loveless’ (Nelyubov), nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film.

Stand out films from the 90th Academy Awards® ‘Get Out’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’ continue the lineup. The must-see film of the year, ‘Get Out’ has garnered fans from around the globe and nominated for four Oscars®, including Best Actor for lead Daniel Kaluuya, and secured Best Original Screenplay for director Jordan Peele.

Denis Villeneuve's epic ‘Blade Runner 2049’ is a stunning visual journey that took home three Oscar® wins for its work, including Best Cinematography for legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins, and Best Visual Effects.

The World War II epic ‘Dunkirk’ joins the DIFF365 slate fresh off a stunning award win at the 90th Academy Awards®. Taking from Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, the epic action thriller was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, Best Production Design and Best Original Score.

From the mind that brought Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea, they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in. The story unfolds on land, sea and air, as Royal Air Force Spitfires engage the enemy in the skies above the Channel, trying to protect the defenseless men below. Meanwhile, hundreds of small boats manned by both military and civilians are mounting a desperate rescue effort, risking their lives in a race against time to save even a fraction of their army.

Closing the lineup is an incredible story of courage, ‘Darkest Hour’, from director Joe Wright. Winner of both Best Actor, for Gary Oldman’s stunning performance as Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Best MakeUp and Hairstyling for his transformation, it was also nominated was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.

A dramatic and inspiring story of four weeks in 1940, ‘Darkest Hour’ is set in the early days of World War II. With the fall of France imminent, Britain faces its darkest hour as the threat of invasion looms. As the seemingly unstoppable Nazi forces advance, and with the Allied army cornered on the beaches of Dunkirk, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the leadership of the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Oldman). While maneuvering his political rivals, he must confront the ultimate choice: negotiate with Hitler and save the British people at a terrible cost or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds.
