Directed & Produced by Emirati Visual Storyteller Hassan Kiyany

During the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) visitors to the Dubai Film Market will get look at the UAE’s first interactive film in a form of an interactive documentary ( #ZaabiliDoc) directed and produced by Emirati visual storyteller Hassan Kiyany.

The documentary film focuses on a school with more than 35 years of history that was vacated in late 2011 with no sign of recovery or maintenance. The school was filmed by Emirati talent Ammar Al Attar in an attempt to document this historical school through using analogue and digital photography techniques. This comes as there have been signs that the place is set to get demolished or converted into an all new high floors building.

Emirati producer Hassan Kiyany commented: “We have structured the photographer's journey to document the building with his thoughts and opinion while on-site visiting the location and reporting on its significance to the history of Dubai and the local community at large.”

Kiyany added: “Viewers will experience an all new way of viewing video on the web as this multimedia project engages audiences in a unique way with built-in features steering their cultural artistic and educational interests. We would like to thanks our supporting partners FujiFilm Middle East and Elevision Media and DIFF for giving us this platform to showcase our new project.”

Viewers will be able to create their own adventure by using the interactive features like choosing next scene, finding social activity around subject live within film, share, interact with the customized notification bar developed based on scene content and more.

With the world of digital storytelling becoming all the more prominent in the industry, this film brings a new level of engagement to physical computing and human interaction on web. hkiyany® media team produced UAE’s first interactive film to be screened over local and international film festivals as well as being placed on the web throughout the Dubai International Film Festival which runs from 10 -17 December.

All features are in Arabic and English with subtitles where applicable.
