Darkest Hour
Certainly one of the legendary Brit actor’s finest hours, let’s welcome back the inimitable Gary Oldman, here nearly-unrecognizable as Winston Churchill in this thrilling drama, set during a game-changing few weeks in 1940. Britain is facing the prospect of a Nazi invasion and the new Prime Minister has to decide whether to open negotiations with a rampaging Hitler, or steel the country’s backbone and fight on. Guess which option he takes. Well, as well known as the story is, you’ll be blown away by Oldman’s bravura performance which is at the heart of this perfectly-structured chunk of British drama at its best.
