Batman: The Movie
Classic superhero fun with the 1960s version of the Caped Crusader.
Tired of the oh-so grumpy Batmans of recent years as played by Christian Bale and Ben Affleck? Then look no further than the gloriously colourful and kitsch BATMAN: THE MOVIE (1966), originally released a few months after the popular 1960s television series and starring Adam West as Batman, fighting evil alongside Robin (Burt Ward). The film included most of the members of the original TV cast – apart from Lee Meriwether who played Catwoman when Julie Newman (who played the role on television) was unable to feature in the film – and like its small screen version favours action packed parody. Batman and Robin must tackle the United Underworld, a coming-together of four powerful supervillains, Joker (Cesar Romero), Penguin (Burgess Meredith), Riddler (Frank Gorshin) and Catwoman (Meriwether).
