Slava (Glory)
A simple incident of honesty escalates into darkness and outrage in this politically charged Bulgarian film that is a shrewd allegory about the current state of the country. The latest film from directors/producers Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, who made festival hit THE LESSON (2014, DIFF), stars Stefan Denolyubov as mild-mannered railway linesman Tzanko, who discovers bundles of cash on the tracks and reports his find to the police. The Ministry of Transport sends cold spin-doctor Julia (Margita Gosheva) to make Tzanko presentable as a marketing tool - but nobody really cares about him until he decides to speak out.
