Hymyilevä Mies (The Happiest Day In The Life Of Olli Mäki)
Love and boxing dovetail perfectly in writer/director Juho Kuosmanen’s intimate and thoroughly engaging film. It may well centre about the real-life 1962 world championship featherweight bout between Finnish boxer Olli Maki (Jarkko Lahti) and reigning titleholder Davey Moore, but it is Olli’s romance with girlfriend Raija (Oona Airola) that is the real focus of his attention. The film warmly and charmingly charts his struggles to balance his boxing obligations with those of the heart, and allows plenty of room for warm-hearted fun and games as Olli has to finally make his way into the ring.
