La Tortue Rouge (The Red Turtle)
This delightful animated film, a French-Belgian-Japanese production is without dialogue. It still wonderfully tells the enthralling story of a man who attempts to escape from a deserted island but finds all his efforts blocked by a massive red turtle, who consistently gets in his way. As time goes on, he comes to accept his fate and starts to bond with the creature and learns to survive and make the most of his remote isolation. Things change again when the turtle mysteriously transforms into a woman, and the pair deal with life’s turbulent milestones while still stuck on their isolated island.
