Peace On The Tigris - Iraq War And 10 Years Of Life In Baghdad
Two weeks prior to the commencement of the Iraq war in March 2003, video journalist Takeharu Watai started recording the war. Over 10 years, he documented the scars of the war through the lives and voices of Baghdad’s citizens. In March 2013, with only photos in hand, he revisited Baghdad in search of the Iraqi citizens he had encountered. Ali Saqban, who had lost two brothers in the Iran-Iraq war, also lost his three children in US airstrikes in April 2003 and a younger brother, who was killed in an argument over religion. Takeharu had planned to meet Ali in 2013, but the meeting did not take place…
