Shankhonad (Wail Of The Conch)
Osman returns to his village, Nayanpur, after a 27-year absence. He remembers the night of the terrible storm that put his family in mourning, made him an orphan and led to his exile. Osman, whose real name is Chand, is not seeking revenge or the recovery of his lands, instead he wants to retrieve what is left of the images of his childhood. Mannaf Kahn, a village leader, welcomes him, but grows uneasy when he discovers his identity. Based on the 1999 novel, Ure Jai Nishipaksh, by young author Nasrin Jahan, the script's symbolic elements make it seem a fable, its exemplary legend drawing on the traditions and beliefs of the Bangladeshi villager.
