Nisshabd (Reaching Silence)
Sarit (Kaushik Chakraborty) develops a sudden, inexplicable sensitivity to sound at the age of 30. Living in the teeming city of Delhi, he is besieged by blaring loudspeakers, children crying, cars honking, buses screeching. All he wants is to cure his affliction and he attends discourses on the need for silence. His boss' outburst is the last straw. He abandons his career and returns to his sequestered hometown in Bengal. He relishes its calm, and his relationship with a young neighbor blossoms. Finally though, his full-blown obsession isolates him. He returns to Delhi and his job, thinking he has a solution. But life in the city is unrelenting.
