Trip Along Exodus
"My father led a mysterious life. When I was growing up, I knew that we had bodyguards, there were guns in the cars and our house and I would hear hushed whispers of political manoeuvrings. In my late twenties, I discovered that my father had abandoned a life in US academia to join the Palestinian revolution of the 1970s. He wanted to create an opposition to Arafat’s mainstream policies of settlement. I began to try and understand his choice, for which I tried to recreate Palestine’s 20th century history. It starts in 1948 and ends in today’s war-torn Syria, where we lived as a family."
