The Last Thakur
A small town, in the rural wilds of Bangladesh. One day Kala, a poor, starving stranger arrives in town, bearing a rifle. He unwittingly walks into a bitter power struggle, between the town's Chairman and the local 'Thakur', a powerful Hindu landlord who is determined to reclaim all the mortgaged land about the town. Both parties try and secure Kala's gun-toting services. But, unbeknownst to them, Kala is in the village on a mission of his own - to try and track down and exact revenge on the man who raped and killed his mother. As tensions rise on all sides, the stage is set for an almighty showdown. Directed by British director Sadik Ahmed, this unusual Bangladeshi take on the classic Western genre crackles with tension and suspense, lovingly re-created through gorgeous cinematography and evocative settings.
