Ziad Khalthoum
Ziad Kalthoum (b. 1981) is a Syrian filmmaker whose first film OH, MY HEART (2009) about Kurdish women was banned in Syria. His feature documentary THE IMMORTAL SERGEANT, premiered at Locarno and also won the Best Film Award at the BBC Arabic Film Festival. In 2013, after defecting from the Syrian army, he fled to Beirut and began filming TASTE OF CEMENT.
