Justified Cheating Premieres at DIFF

Mon Dec 11,2006

The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is pleased to announce that the film Justified Cheating (Khinaya Shariah) will have its World Premiere at this year’s festival.

Egyptian star Hani Salama, who also appeared in director Khaled Youssef’s Enta Omry (2004), plays a young, rich man who kills his wife and brother when he finds them in bed together. As the film progresses, the film’s perspective changes, revealing new facts that cause the audience to question whether the killings were spontaneous, as the man professes, or premeditated. The unconventional storytelling technique heightens the tension

Award-winning director Khaled Youssef, who also helmed Ouija (2005), will be in attendance at DIFF’s unveiling of his latest work, as will Salama and Egyptian actress Sumaya Khashab, of the recent Egyptian film The Yacoubian Building (Eemarat Yaqoobian).

DIFF Chairman Abdulhamid Juma stated, “It is exciting to have a world premiere of a Middle Eastern film in the festival. Khaled Youssef’s work is an example of what this region is capable of: unconventional, adventurous, and brave. DIFF’s core mandate is to promote Arab films and filmmakers, and we look forward to hosting more world premieres in the future.”
