Dubai, November 9, 2005 – The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) management met with officials from 12 key Dubai Government departments and the federal Ministry of Education today in the run-up to DIFF’s second edition from December 11 to 17, 2005. With logistics being the focal point, the meeting provided the platform in which all parties could fine-tune the many arrangements needed to be in place for the Festival. Continuing their commitment from the inaugural festival in 2004, the government departments of Dubai Civil Aviation, Dubai Ports and Customs, Dubai Police, Dubai Civil Defense, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Municipality, the Department of Health and Medical Services, Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department, Dubai Transport, Dubai Cultural Council, Dubai TV and the Ministry of Education put the finishing touches on a multitude of plans related to hospitality, air and sea customs, traffic control and other vital functional areas that are critical to the success of this high profile event. “We are delighted to again have the full backing of the Dubai Government and the federal government. We really appreciate the support and active participation of all our government colleagues who did such a great job for us last year,” said Festival CEO and Director Neil Stephenson. “Our inaugural festival showed how through cooperation you can run a successful operation, and this year we anticipate the same level of teamwork in order to provide festival-goers an exhilarating and safe experience.” In the run-up to the festival, the departments will be working closely with one another and with the festival management and security team. The specialty each offers in their respective fields of operation, from customs clearance for incoming specialized festival equipment to collaborating with education establishments for the volunteers program, has already greatly assisted in the festival’s preparation. Adel Ibrahim, Manager of Government Relations and Protocol for the Festival, said, “The support we are receiving from the respective governmental departments has again been unprecedented. Everyone involved is dedicated to ensuring we provide the highest level of service to visiting guests in order to showcase Dubai as a film festival destination of choice.”
