The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) thanked the high-calibre UAE media firms that pledged their support to the world-class event during its 2008 run. They are:  Arab Media Group, Dubai Media Incorporated, Good News, Gulf News, The Hollywood Reporter, Khaleej Times Online, and Realmedia.

Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman of DIFF, expressed his thanks to the companies for their support of DIFF’s vision: “All of our media sponsors share the goal of aiming globally while retaining local values and traditions. The festival is in its fifth year of raising the profile of the region worldwide, and we are excited about continuing to work toward this objective with our Media Sponsors as partners.”

Abdullatif al Sayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group the largest media group in the region, stated: “DIFF is the most eagerly awaited cultural event in the Dubai calendar. The city’s diverse population has validated DIFF’s importance by showing up in great numbers to watch the impressive selection of cinema. Having a multicultural audience, AMG have always believed in celebrating diversity and protecting our valued traditions while embracing the best in contemporary practices. We salute DIFF for doing the same for five years.”

Ahmed Abdulla Al Sheikh, Managing Director of Dubai Media Incorporated said: “Selecting Dubai Media Incorporated as the Key Media Sponsor of a major cultural event the size of Dubai International Film Festival reflects the level of trust DMI has managed to build in media community in the UAE. From our side, we spare no effort in taking this important event to the doorsteps of the global audience, while reflecting the rich cultural landscape in Dubai and the UAE”.

The Good News Group publishes the Middle   East’s only Arabic film magazine. Ala’a Karkouti of Good News spoke on the company’s support of the festival, saying: “DIFF is contributing to the development of cinema in the Middle East as a whole, and to the promotion of an Arab star system as well. We will have more to fill our pages thanks to the festival, and we are sure that DIFF will continue to provide interesting content for years to come.”

Gulf News, a third-year sponsor, publishes the festival’s own newsletter, the DIFF Daily. Duleep George, the paper’s Executive Director Marketing and Sales, stated: “Gulf News believes in creativity, innovation and quality, so it is natural for us to support events such as DIFF that recognize excellence in industry. We continually strive to raise the bar in our entertainment reporting, and it is through exposure to our broad range of entertainment stories from DIFF that festival-goers have come to rely on us.”

Khaleej Times, the Number 1 newspaper in the GCC published from Dubai,  UAE, has come on board as a media partner for the first time in 2008. Didier Brun, the paper’s CEO, stated: “DIFF is one of the UAE’s most significant events, and we are proud to be associated with a cultural institution that extends Dubai’s reach onto the world stage. We have a an extensive global week, not only in the GCC but in the subcontinent, and we look forward to extending DIFF news to our readership in our wide distribution area.”

Real Media – Zee Network, the largest producer and aggregator of programming in the world, has been a DIFF supporter since the festival’s beginning. According to Mr. Manoj Mathew, the company’s  Vice President, “we are proud of DIFF, the hometown event that has become a host for the world. We are happy to be able to support DIFF and add to its success in whatever way we can, especially as it focuses such an incredible amount of regional and international attention on Dubai.”

The landmark fifth edition of DIFF will run from December 11 to 18, 2008.
