DUBAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL CALLS FOR FILM ENTHUSIASTS

Tue Aug 21,2007

Dubai, August 21, 2007: As the countdown for the fourth Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) begins, organizers are seeking a temporary workforce to assist in operational aspects of the festival. To this end, DIFF will hold a job fair on Sunday, 2nd September, 2007 from 10am to 8pm at Dubai Knowledge Village.

Over 200 temporary staff are needed in such vital areas as the Industry Office, Box Office and Customer Service, accreditation & registration, theatre operations and marketing, all of which offer an opportunity to gain insight into the workings of a major international film festival, working with people from all over the world; the DIFF operations team has grown to include both professionals and students from a cross section of nationalities seeking international experience.

Nearly 150 people were selected at last year’s job fair, which was the festival’s first. Commenting on the success of the programme, Shivani Pandya, DIFF’s Managing Director, said: “DIFF is proud to offer exciting work placements to interested individuals living in the UAE, and is particularly attractive to people who would like to contribute to the rapidly evolving arts and culture community in Dubai.

The programme also furthers our mandate of community outreach, acknowledging that without the participation of Dubai’s citizens, DIFF would not have reached the level of success it currently enjoys.”

Selected applicants for interim positions undergo rigorous training sessions before taking up their assignments. Several of those who supported past editions of the festival have returned in following years, validating the programme’s success and popularity.

All DIFF applicants must be bilingual speakers (English and Arabic), 21 years of age and residents of the UAE. Applicants may also submit their resumes online at www.careercentre.ae.
