Clarification: Photography Access for Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF)
Wed Dec 08,2004
Responding to complaints from press photographers about limited access to DIFF gala events, organizers confirmed that media guidelines had been communicated prior to the event’s opening on December 6, and that specially designated photography points had been carefully planned and allocated near the red carpet to allow for maximum visibility and lighting.
Festival Director and CEO Neil Stephenson said, “We highly appreciate the efforts and amazing support of the media before and during this high profile event. We have made it very clear prior to the event that there will be certain limitations for some Festival venues including the Gala screenings and receptions due to privacy and security requirements.”
“I would also like to clarify that the media has been treated professionally and we endeavor to fulfill all media requests and needs,” he said. “We have a dedicated and trained Security team to manage traffic flow of guests, media and VIPs. For the inaugural DIFF, we have followed international standards and procedures as practiced by other film festivals from around the world.”
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the media again for their support and dedication in covering the Festival. It is an important event for the city of Dubai, and highlights our city’s unique position as a cultural bridge and supporter of the arts.”
Stephenson concluded by saying all accredited media personnel will be allowed access to all DIFF gala screenings and gala receptions, and will be provided with passes for DIFF regular screenings if they inform the media team in advance. Cinema seating is subject to availability.
