The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) announced today that submissions for its 11th edition are now open. Following a successful decennial edition in 2013, DIFF is inviting filmmakers from across the Arab world to participate in its December 10th to 17th festival, which is best known for discovering and showcasing the best of Arab and international cinema.
The next screening of The Scene Club will be held on 12th August and will showcase the Japanese family drama LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON by Kore-eda Hirokazu, winner of the Cannes Jury Prize in 2013. The screening will take place at Dubai Knowledge Village Conference Centre at 8pm, but guests are requested to arrive promptly at 7pm to secure collection of their pre-booked complimentary tickets, as entry is on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
The Scene Cub will continue its monthly screenings also during the holy month of Ramadan and it will show the world sensation THE LUNCHBOX by Indian director Ritesh Batra. The screening will take place on 9th July at Dubai Knowledge Village Conference Centre and, to allow for Iftar, the event will start one hour later than usual, with the film commencing at 9pm. Entry is on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis and guests are requested to arrive at 8pm to collect their pre-booked complimentary tickets.
The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), in partnership with the Berlin-based Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art, will offer audiences a selection of the most celebrated cinematic productions from DIFF’s “Cinema of Passion” book of the 100 greatest Arab films. The films can be viewed over a six-day screening series starting Friday, June 13 until Wednesday, June 18, at Arsenal in Berlin.
