Tue May 29,2007
The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) announced today that it will host a fundraiser for amfAR AIDS Research during its fourth edition, which will take place December 9-16th, 2007. amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, is one of the world’s leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and public policy advocacy.
The Dubai event will create its own variant of the yearly, star-studded Cannes benefit, with the leadership of amfAR’s Chairman of the Board, Kenneth Cole and amfAR’s Chairman of the Campaign for AIDS Research, Sharon Stone.
Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman of DIFF, stated: “We are proud to partner with this leading world non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the millions affected across the globe, and we look forward to working with actress and philanthropist Sharon Stone, who has graciously agreed to be present at the inaugural fund raiser during the Dubai International Film Festival. The initiative will allow us to bring forward our credo, “Bridging Cultures, Meeting Minds.”
Kevin Robert Frost, amfAR’s Interim Chief Executive Officer, said: “amfAR is grateful to the visionary philanthropy of the Dubai International Film Festival and its sponsors and benefactors. This initiative will help us raise awareness of the disease in the Middle East.”
DIFF’s fourth edition will run from December 9 to 16, 2007.
