The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) today thanked the top firms that stepped up to support the highly anticipated event as its Official Suppliers.

15 firms lent their support: The Al Nisr  Group (inclusive of Al Nisr Media, Al Nisr Publishing and Gulf News Broadcasting), House of Amouage, Caviar House &  Prunier, Dessange Coiffure, Eye on Dubai by Media Workshop, FedEx Express, Filmworks,  Freej Folklore, Harry Winston, Harvey Nichols, M.A.C Cosmetics, Mediawatch, MMI,  Motivate Publishing, Showtex Middle East, and Sony.

Mahsa Motamedi, Director of Sponsorship and Marketing,  said, “It is truly visionary for companies to realize that culture is a valuable investment and a gift to the future of our community. DIFF will live up to that investment and retain our focus on delivering the best of the world to Dubai, and the best of Dubai to the world.”

Harry Winston said “The Dubai International Film Festival is a wonderful celebration of international film and culture. We are pleased to partner with DIFF for its remarkable fifth season, and to continue Harry Winston’s red carpet traditions by honoring this year’s achievement in film”

Al Nisr Publishing LLC has been associated with DIFF since its third year. Duleep George, Marketing & Sales Director, AL Nisr Publishing LLC said, \“Al Nisr Publishing LLC is very much dedicated to bringing the best in entertainment to its readers, which dovetails with DIFF’s mission to bring the best cinema to Dubai.” This year, both Gulf News and GNB’s Radio 1 & Radio 2 are official partners.

Niche luxury fragrance house Amouage will also contribute to DIFF this year. David Crickmore, CEO of Amouage,  stated: “We have adopted an artistic approach to create original and evocatively fragrant experiences by developing a collection of narratives inspired by music and film to cultivate the ultimate luxury of being unique and distinctive. Our association with DIFF for the second consecutive year stems from our collaborative efforts to stimulate the senses and transport minds to a world of wonder and imagination.

Caviar House & Prunier - Nicolas Rubeiz, Managing Director for Caviar House & Prunier in the Region, stated; “We are very honoured to be associated with this prestigious event. DIFF helps to emphasise Dubai as one of the foremost cultural and cosmopolitan destinations in the world.”

Dessange Paris Coiffure, official hairstylist of the Cannes Film Festival, welcomed the association with DIFF: “Welcome to the chic world of Dessange, where your beauty and well being are our first priority… We have a holistic approach to beauty, and we are very broad in applying that approach. We as Dessange prefer to partner with organizations that couple visionary goals and attention to detail. DIFF have proved that there are no limits to creativity, which fits our viewpoint extremely well.”

Eye on Dubai,  the in-hotel tourist information television channel of the emirate, is also a third-year sponsor. Saeed Al-Naji, the channel’s Managing Director, spoke about its involvement: “we have always believed that Dubai is a world-class city with lots to offer international visitors and residents alike. DIFF continues to prove that belief year on year, demonstrating that events and gatherings held in this city are world-standard and worthy of travelling from points far and wide.”

FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company, has also pledged its support to the festival for the fourth year; Mr. Hamdi Osman, the company’s Senior Vice President Europe,  Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa stated, “We know the kind of hard work that is involved in creating international reach, and are pleased to share our expertise with DIFF to assist in making the festival as far-reaching as possible. We congratulate DIFF on its tremendous five years,  and look forward to increasingly more impressive editions to come.”

Filmworks is the UAE’s foremost production house,  assisting with international productions such as Syriana, starring George Clooney. Tim Smythe, the company’s CEO, stated: “As a long-standing production facilitator in the region, we welcome DIFF’s activities toward stimulating the film industry here. We feel the region is ready and we are very much looking forward to increased activity in our sector.”

FREEJ FOLKLORE shares Dubai’s passion for the arts, said FREEJ creator Mohammed Saaed Harib: “DIFF’s growth is a beacon for other cultural industries to think global while organizing events in the Gulf, and we look forward to another successful edition that will continue to pave the way for Dubai’s cultural activities as a whole. Our stage show, which will take place from January 8 – 17, 2009 in the Jumeirah Madinat Arena, will benefit, for instance,  from the increased confidence of Dubai audiences in Dubai’s inherent talent and indigenous offerings.”

Premier Fashion store Harvey Nichols is the official fashion partner of the festival showcasing the best edited selection of red carpet glamour including Womenswear, Menswear and Accessories. As Dubai’s premier fashion destination since opening the largest Harvey Nichols outside of the UK in 2006, the store has since affirmed its position as an iconic shopping landmark.

M.A.C Cosmetics has been a DIFF sponsor for three years running, and this year will offer special courses in makeup for period films.  Vimi Joshi, Senior Artist for M.A.C Middle East and India, said, “The Middle East’s unique cinematic vision is coming to light, thanks to DIFF’s efforts,  and we are both proud to stand by DIFF and looking on with interest to see what develops further. We have always celebrated glamour, creativity and excitement,  and that is what DIFF brings to the Arab world, increasingly each year.”

Sony Professional Solutions M. E. is supporting DIFF for the fourth consecutive year. Takashi Miura, General Manager, Sony Professional Solutions M.E., commented: “Sony is involved in the entertainment industry at many levels, and we see DIFF as an essential stimulant for the entertainment industry in Dubai and the region as a whole.
