The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) partnered with Alserkal Avenue, the foremost arts district in Dubai and the UAE, to offer a series of free film screenings and film posters exhibition within A4 warehouse in Alserkal Avenue to audiences across the Emirates from December 7 to 14 in conjunction with DIFF’s landmark 10th edition, which takes place from December 6 to 14, 2013.

The screenings will present audiences with a selection of stirring and emotive films from Gaza including “Gaza 36mm” by Khalil Elmzayen, a film that provides a window into post-war life in Gaza through stories of once-popular cinemas that have now been converted into buildings and supermarkets.
In addition there will be two films by Tarzan and Arab, budding Gaza-born twin brothers and filmmakers Mohammed and Ahmad Abu Nasser: “Colourful Journey” and “Condom Lead”, the first Palestinian short film nominated for the Palm D’or at Cannes. The 22-day long offensive against the Gaza Strip in 2009 was brutal. Amid the deafening noise of ground-rocking explosions, human intimacy is cut off. Love and desire become balloons just waiting to be burst.
In 2010, Tarzan and Arab received the A.M. Qattan Foundation’s prestigious Young Artist of the Year Award for their conceptual artwork Gaza wood, a series of mock-Hollywood posters for imaginary feature films named after real Israeli military offensives on Gaza, and their short film Colorful Journey. The posters exhibition for the first time will be exhibited during DIFF in A4 venue in Alserkal Avenue alongside the screenings taking place twice daily from Dec 7-14, 2013.

“Gaza 36mm” & “Colourful Journey”  17:00 and 19:00 from the 7th – 14th December
“Condom Lead” will screen at 17:00 and 19:00 on the 13th and 14th December.
LOCATION: A4 Warehouse in Alserkal Avenue Arts District, Al Quoz, Dubai

The partnership between DIFF and Alserkal Avenue will continue with monthly screenings taking place in A4 warehouse space.
