Synopsis

UNFORGIVEN is a stunning Japanese remake of Clint Eastwood's masterpiece. The year is 1880 and the Tokugawa shogunate has just collapsed in Ezo (now Hokkaido), the northernmost island of Japan. Jubei Kamata, who terrorised Kyoto during the shogunate, has vanished. A decade has passed and Kamata lives in a secluded hamlet. He has fathered children with an Ainu woman, who died, but succeeded in transforming him. However, poverty leads Kamata to abandon his resolve to bury his sword and, once again, he finds himself ensnared in a life of violence.
