Servet (Ercan Kesal) is a wealthy Turkish politician who causes a fatal hit-and-run car accident. Terrified, he bribes his driver Eyup (Yavuz Bingol) to take the blame and ensuing jail term. Once Eyup's locked up, Servet embarks on a clandestine affair with his alluring wife, Hacer (Hatice Aslan). It is a torrid, intense affair, that not only betrays Eyup's trust, but drives Eyup's son Ismail into a state of confusion and barely-repressed anger. When Eyup is relased from prison, the accumulated tensions, deceit and deception are almost too much for the protagonists to collectively bear. By creating a framework in which shifting moral values are continuously called into question, from all perspectives, master Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan creates another inspired psychological drama.
