In this tragic-comedy George Clooney plays Matt King, a Honolulu lawyer and land owner confronted by a series of crises and ill-prepared to tackle any of them. When his wife slips into a coma after a boating accident, he has to assert his parental authority over his two rebellious daughters, 17-year-old Alexandra and 10-year-old Scotty. Although recognizing that he has to become a better husband and father, he has absolutely no idea how to proceed. At the same time, he is faced with the conundrum of selling his extended family’s enormous estate to a property developer that could make them all incredibly wealthy. However, only Matt can take the final decision.
