SHIRLEY ADAMS

Synopsis

Set in Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town, South Africa, this is the harrowing tale of Shirley Adams, whose son Donovan was paralysed in a shooting a year ago. As Donovan's physical incapacity drives him to despair, his unemployed mother is equally miserable as she tries to make ends meet by shoplifting and relying on the charity of others. When a young, eager occupational therapist comes into their lives, Shirley hopes she might help turn things round for the better. But when the trial of Donovan's attacker begins, Shirley's hopes of an end to their nightmare seem grimly misguided.
