SHAHID
Celebration of Indian Cinema
Synopsis
Against the backdrop of communal violence that was unleashed in Mumbai in 1993 we see a remarkable tale unfold. From attempting to become a terrorist to being wrongly imprisoned under a draconian anti-terrorism law and becoming a criminal lawyer, SHAHID traces the inspiring personal journey of a Shahid Azmi, who became an unlikely messiah for human rights while following the rise of communal violence in India. Based on a true life story, SHAHID is about an impoverished Muslim struggling to come to terms with injustice, inequality and rising above his circumstances and is a powerful testament to the human spirit that lingers and raises questions beyond the boundaries of fiction.
