PEACE
Muhr AsiaAfrica Documentary
Synopsis
What is peace? What is coexistence? What are the bases for them? 'Peace' is a visual essay-like observational documentary, which contemplates these questions by observing the daily lives of people and cats in Okayama, Japan, where life and death, acceptance and rejection are intermingled. One of the main characters of the film is a 91-year old war veteran Shiro Hashimoto. Living in a rodent-infested small apartment, he is spending his final days thinking about his own death. We also encounter selfless acts of great compassion in this very humane piece of filmmaking.
