LE GRAND VOYAGE
Gala
Synopsis
One of Islam's great pillars, the hajj, serves as a backdrop for a moving and heartwarming story of reconciliation between a traditional North African father and his French-raised, thoroughly westernized son. Le Grand Voyage simply follows them as they drive from their home in a French suburb to Mecca, through Europe and Middle East, interacting with colorful Characters throughout the journey. Featuring standout performances from one of Morocco's finest actors, Mohamed Majid, and white-hot young French heartthrob Nicolas Cazale, this film marks the emergence of a major new talent from the Arab world in director Ismael Ferroukhi. The film proved a major sensation at this year's Toronto and Venice Film Festivals.
