Synopsis

The Bong Connection, in Bengali mixed with English and shot in Kolkata and Houston, satirizes the Bengali community in these polarized cities. The film follows two young men's search for personal goals in a country other than their own. Computer engineer Apu (Parambrata Chattopadhyay) feels that Kolkata is a dying city and moves to the USA. Andy (Shayan Munshi), a Bengali musician raised in New York, journeys to Kolkata hoping to imbibe its rich language and culture. Their respective stories run parallel, never merging yet colliding. Each encounters an elder as their mentor and each is intrigued by a local Indian woman (Raima Sen and Peeya Rai Chowdhary). They finally find their true place of belonging, wiser and more mature. Director Dutt is known for his fusion music and forward-looking films, working in both with his son Neel Dutt.
