Kim Ki-duk

After studying art in Paris, Kim Ki-duk (born 1960) returned to Korea and began his career as a screenwriter. He made his directorial debut with a low-budget movie, CROCODILE, in 1996. His internationally acclaimed films include SAMARITAN GIRL (Silver Bear at Berlinale 2004) and ARIRANG (Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes 2011). PIETA won the Golden Lion in Venice this year.
