Ahmed Ibrahim is a writer/director who works between Cairo and New York. His work is heavily influenced by his relationship to both places. Ahmed studied law at Alexandria University before moving to New York where he recently graduated from the Film and Media Studies program at New York University. In New York Ahmed worked on many film and theater projects. His film, Noor, was shot in the neighborhood in Cairo where he grew up, in collaboration with people in the neighborhood and a professional film crew. Noor won the Audience Award and a Special Jury Mention at le 8’eme Festival des recontres de l’image 2012 in Cairo, and screened in competition at the Palm Springs International Shortfest 2012. Ahmed has a short film in pre-production, a feature script in development, and is currently working as an assistant director with artist/filmmaker Shirin Neshat on her second feature film about Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum.
