The wait is nearly over; the 86th Academy Awards will see some of the most memorable films of the year recognised this Sunday at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. There is some fierce competition this year from the epic 12 Years a Slave, the impeccably cast American Hustle, the visually stunning Gravity, and the hilariously addictive The Wolf of Wall Street.
125 nominees, 24 categories, 1 host. Talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres will host the Oscars ceremony for a second time.

Here is the line-up of presenters who will appear on the Oscar stage this Sunday.
Nominated for a total of 36 Oscars, DIFF’s 10th edition line-up was widely considered to be the strongest film programme to date showcasing some of the highest profile titles of the year including 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, The Great Beauty, Omar, The Square, Nebraska, Frozen, Saving Mr. Banks, Inside Llewyn Davis and August: Osage County.
Rooting for Omar to win!
Befitting a celebration of ten years of dedication to Arab cinema, the festival opened with Oscar nominee “Omar”, by Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad which was supported by DIFF’s Enjaaz post-production grants programme.

“Hany Abu-Assad is the only director to open DIFF on two occasions, with ‘Omar’ having marked the beginning of our decennial edition. On winning the Best Director at the prestigious Muhr Awards, Abu-Assad reflected on returning to DIFF and being awarded the top prize:
David O Russell, director of DIFF’s closing night film “American Hustle”, nominated for 10 Oscars and winner of three Golden Globes, who graced the DIFF red carpet said about his experience in Dubai.
